Safe Places

Our mission is to provide families who are homeless as a result of domestic violence with safety and shelter while empowering them to break the cycle and live free from abuse

Safe Places is a 24-month transitional housing program serving families throughout Fairfax County, Virginia who are homeless as a result of domestic violence. Program participants are involved in weekly or bi-weekly case management sessions, or home visits.

These meetings focus on budgeting, permanent housing searches, and the overall goal of obtaining self-sufficiency.

Our passionate bilingual case managers drive the program with their advocacy and trauma-informed services.

In addition, Safe Places staff provides support to participants throughout the year with financial assistance and in-kind needs, such as winter coats, backpacks filled with school supplies, holiday toys, diapers, and hygiene products.

Many of the families in our program were severely impacted by the global Covid-19 pandemic. Program participants received emergency support from Safe Places by providing assistance in securing medication, household supplies, transportation, and rental assistance.

Safe Places continues to serve as one of the primary Domestic Violence transitional housing programs in Fairfax County. We believe that by removing barriers we empower our clients to live a life free of abuse, because no one should have to choose between homelessness and abuse.
